Creation Myth

Datura’s beginning was not a pleasant one. Creatures here are an aftermath, blessed by the fact that the gods; cannot intervene in our existence without great cost. Once ages upon eons ago there was a fight between the only two beings who've always existed. Vortos who was darkness and Verei, his opposite, light itself. Locked in an seemingly eternal battle for space the light broken from Verei during the fight made the stars and in an effort to grow stronger Verei stole the power back from the stars. Vortos however didn't steal back the power from the masses of darkness that were torn off during their battles, instead Vortos gathered the fallen darkness together to form Dalini, the moon. The energy stolen from the stars began to poison Verei. Envious of the friendship Vortos and Dalini formed, Verei plotted to harm that which Vortos now held dear. The torture was cruel and seemingly unending, driving Dalini mad. Vortos, unable to save Dalini until it was too late, saw the madness that had taken hold and hid her in an endless abyss. Dalini, lost with her mind, danced among the darkness with an almost endless energy. As Dalini danced, sweat filled the darkness creating the sea. The sea continued to fill but this did not stop the endless dance. Dalini's skin began to decay and fall in chunks into the sea, creating land. Dalini still danced. Seeing the tireless endeavor of a moon gone mad, tears fell from Vorto's face creating lakes in the petrified chunks skin now turned land. Unable to bear Dalini's madness any longer, Vortos created Velos (death) to put Danili and the star with stolen power out of their misery. In spite of this, Verei created Selak (revival) to bring back the stars he had absorbed from under Velo's wing. Seeing this Vortos realized death would not save Dalini. It only stole another choice that should be hers. The surviving stars, seeing Vorto's change of heart, offered to sacrifice some of their power to help Vortos create Day and Night, banishing Verei permanently. Leaving Verei angry, alone, burning in the sky and separated for eternity. To this day, Dalini dances safely amongst darkness with the ever silent sisters the remaining stars until they decide to join those in death.
